So, what are the Best Pubs near Etihad Stadium?

The Townley

The Townley is the perfect pub if you’re prone to drinking one too many pre-match pints due to only being a 3 minute walk away from the Manchester City Football stadium. The pub welcomes home and away fans, however as with all football away days, my advice would be to not wear your team colours until you’re into the ground to avoid conflict.

There’s a large beer garden out the front & back, perfect for a warm day (although we don’t have many of them in England do we). In terms of food, The Townley usually only offers pies before a game, which I’ve personally tried and they are decent.

Overall, it’s a warm and welcoming pub with a good reputation for no pre-match trouble. The locals were friendly when I visited, but due to it’s location, it gets extremely busy so head down early.

Bradford Inn

This Joseph-Holt chain pub is located around a 5-10 minute walk from the Man City stadium and is my personal favourite pubs near Etihad Stadium. Aside from the large beer garden, this pub has multiple screens showing BT and Sky Sports which is perfect for watching the pre-game buildup.

In terms of variety of drinks, Manchester City FC Pubs don’t get much better than this. There’s a wide range of beers on draught & a wide selection of IPA’s. My personal favourite drink here is the Manchester Brown Ale – although I’ll admit you do need slightly weird taste buds to enjoy it!

This pub is perfect if you’re looking for a lively pint. Karaoke and sports tables provide a great atmosphere. And it’s also dog friendly, perfect for if you’re bringing along a furry friend!

The Printworks

This ones for the away fans who don’t want to be suffocated by the home support, although it is Manchester City you’re visiting, there’s not too many of them ;)!

It is slightly out of walking distance, although if you don’t mind a 30 minute trek then that’s up to you. However, the Etihad Stadium is only a 5-10 minute tram journey away from Manchester Piccadilly.

It is also one of the best places to eat near Etihad Stadium if you’re looking for some pre-match food. There’s a variety of food options within Printworks, from Nandos to Wagamams, or even a Wetherspoons if you fancy cheap pints and cheap food!

I’ve personally visited The Printworks before a Man United vs Manchester City derby, the atmosphere was great and the food+drink was on the same level.

Mary D's Beamish Bar

If you’re an away fan, feel free to skip this section. This ones for the Man City fans. This pub is the closest to the ground and is, therefore, only open to home fans. It’s a must-visit if you are a City fan.

A lifelong City fan stated that occasionally they check you whether you have a home ticket or not, so bear that in mind. They have a high number of TV screens around the pub which all show the pre-match buildup or the earlier kick-offs, perfect to get you in the mood for football!

In my opinion, this is the best choice for home fans. Great selection of drinks with an electric atmosphere. What more can you ask for?

The Pen And Pencil

This New York themed pub is located in Manchester’s Northern Quarter and is a great choice if you’re heading to the game from the City Centre. It’s open to both home and away fans, providing you behave yourself.

It opens at 10am, making it perfect for your pre-match boozing. Especially if it’s a 12:30 kick-off. They also offer parking for £5, however, expect this to be filled up extremely early. Check out one of our Etihad stadium parking guides if you’re travelling to the game by car.

From personal experience, if you’re looking for food near Etihad Stadium, The Pen and Pencil is the place to be. I’ve had their burgers multiple times are they are truly amazing.
