Discovering the best parking near St. James Park for matchdays in Newcastle can be a real game-changer for football enthusiasts. There’s nothing worse than heading to a stadium via car and not being able to find a car parking spot.

In this guide, I’ll unveil the top parking options, providing you with valuable information and recommendations that will guarantee a stress-free experience at St James Park. Check out the map below to familiarise yourself with the location of the ground:

So, what are the best Parking near St James Park options?

NCP Car Parks

I’m sure you’ve parked at an NCP car park before and know what to expect, but for those of you that haven’t, I’ll walk you through two great options for parking a Newcastle United Match. The first NCP car park (which is my favourite out of the two) is the John Dobson Street Car Park, located a short 10 minute walk from the stadium. Check out our St James’ Park pub guide to find somewhere to stop off on the way to the ground.

The Newcastle St John Street NCP is located on Grainger St. and is also just a 10 minute walk from the ground. I’ve parked at both of these locations and never had a problem. You’ll be looking to pay around £10 for matchday parking at either of these, which isn’t too bad if you value a secure car-park close to the stadium highly. I also found it pretty quick to escape the traffic from both of these locations.

JustPark

If you’ve checked out any of our other parking guides, you’ll know I’m a big fan of JustPark. Simply enter “St James Newcastle” into their website and it’ll show you a large array of car parking options near the ground.

The best part is you can pre-book a spot, meaning a completely stress-free matchday. Over the years, I’ve found JustPark very useful for finding street parking near St James Park. You’ll be looking to pay between £5-£20 on their website – I’d advise booking as early as possible to get the best prices.

Park & Ride

Newcastle United have two Park & Ride sites which operate on matchdays with a shuttle bus to St James’ Park. The first of which operates from MetroCentre (a large shopping centre in the city centre). It’s around a 20 minute journey to the stadium. I’ve used it a few times and never had a problem.

The second Park & Ride operates from Newcastle Great Park (just off the A1 if you are travelling this way). Both Park & Ride’s offer free parking with a return ticket costing between £2-£4. If you’re doing football away days on a budget, this is one of the best place to park for Newcastle match.

Q-Park Stowell Street

Located just a short 5-10 minute walk from the ground, this car park is another great option for Newcastle United matchdays. While I’ve not used it myself, I’ve heard from fellow fans it’s hassle-free, but can be expensive.

At £2.60 per hour, you will be looking to pay between £10-£20 for matchday, depending on how long you stay. With 24/7 CCTV in operation, it’s one of the more secure car parks in the area. However, with only 266 spaces available, it can fill up quickly on matchdays. You are able to pre-book a space which you can find out more information about here.

Newcastle College

If you don’t mind a longer walk or making use of the metro-system in Newcastle, parking at the college campus is one of the best cheap parking near St James Park spots. At £4 a ticket and over 400 car parking spaces, I found this spot to fill up pretty quickly so make sure to get down early.
