The 5 Best Nottingham Forest Pubs | 2024 Fan Guide

best nottingham forest pubs

Looking for the best Nottingham Forest Pubs on your visit to the City Ground? We’ve got you covered. Whether you’re a Forest fan or an away supporter, we’ve collected a mix of the best pubs, no matter your teams’ colours.

From my years of living in Nottingham I’ve tried and tested everything. This blog contains the best Nottingham Forest pubs, whether you’re looking for a traditional football pub or a more modern sports bar with great food.

Before we kick-off, familiarise yourself with the location of the City Ground using the map below:

So, what are our top 5 Nottingham Forest Pubs?

Trent Bridge Inn

Despite being named after the Cricket Ground right next door, there’s a buzz on Premier League match day at the Trent Bridge Inn.

Located a short 1-2 minute walk away from the City Ground, this is one of the best choices for Forest fans. Unfortunately for the away fans here, you’re unlikely to be let in. But, don’t worry, there’s some better options for you coming up.

As a Wetherspoons pub, I’m sure you know what to expect. Reasonable prices, quick service, and I’ve personally found the food here to be better than most Spoons. Overall, I thought the atmosphere here was great and is definitely a top choice for home fans.

The Broken Wheelbarrow (Meadow Lane Sports Bar)

Away fans, this ones for you. The Broken Wheelbarrow (now renamed the Meadow Lane Sports Bar) is around a 10 minute walk from the City Ground. There’s also parking available extremely close, which you can find out more about in our Nottingham Forest Parking Guide.

There’s no “designated” away pub for Nottingham Forest, but if there was one, it’d likely be here. I’ve visited a few times and there’s always a buzz in here. It’s a comfortable and friendly venue.

There’s a couple screens displaying live sport so you can discuss the pre-match buildup with fellow fans. Overall, I think this is probably the best away pub at Nottingham Forest.

Lady Bay

This Greene King pub is a 5-10 minute walk from the stadium. It’s one of my personal favourite pubs if I’m looking for a great atmosphere, matchday or not. If you’re an away fan, I’d probably advise steering clear and it’s Reds fans who occupy this pub.

As with all Greene King pubs, the food is decent but nothing to write home about. The drinks are well priced with a good selection available and there’s a couple screens showing live sport. What more can you ask for really?

I’ve found it does fill up pretty quickly here on match day so head down earlier if you’re looking for a seat. There are some benches outside for when the sun is shining (which isn’t often in Nottingham…).

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem

If you’re heading to the game via Nottingham City Centre, then Ye Old Trip to Jerusalem is an amazing choice for both home and away fans. This traditional pub is located right next to Nottingham Castle, which may be of interest to you if you’re a fan of history.

While it is part of the Greene King chain, I’ve personally found to have a more ‘up-market’ feel due to it’s recently refurbished interior. This is backed up by it’s rating as one of the best pubs in Nottingham.

Good beer, even better food and a 15-20 min journey to the ground. You can’t really go wrong if this is your choice for an away pub in Nottingham.

The Southbank Bar

If you’re a fan of the reds and are looking for a guaranteed electric atmosphere, The Southbank Bar is the spot for you.

Located on Friar Lane in the City Centre, this is the ideal venue to visit if you’re looking for a wide variety of beers with large screens around the pub. They do also offer table service which is great if you’re like me and too lazy to go to the bar…

Overall, if you’re looking for a great atmosphere and venue that is Nottingham Forest through & through, I think this is the place for you.
