The 5 Best Pubs Near Vitality Stadium | 2024 Fan Guide

afc bournemouth pubs

If you’re a fan of football and a good pint, you’ll want to check out these 5 best pubs near Vitality Stadium, Dean Court.

Each pub has its own unique atmosphere and offers a great selection of drinks and food to enjoy before or after the match. Whether you’re a Cherries fan or a visiting supporter, these pubs are definitely worth a visit.

Before we get into it, be sure to familiarise yourself with the location of the Vitality Stadium below:

So, what are the best pubs near Vitality Stadium in 2024?

Mello Mello Bar

If you’re an away fan travelling to Bournemouth for a Premier League or cup fixture, Mello Mello Bar is the place to be. Located a short 5 minute drive or 15 minute walk (for the younger ones) away from the ground, you truly can’t go wrong a Mello Mello Bar.

Cheap drinks (the £3 German Pint is my favourite), a friendly atmosphere and screens displaying live sports. What more can you ask for from a pre-match boozer?

I even stayed behind after a Saturday 3pm match and visited Mello Mello Bar to celebrate my teams victory with their Karaoke machine, although I don’t it would’ve been quite as fun had we of lost! This is definitely one of the best away pubs Bournemouth has to offer.

The Queens Park Hotel

If you’re an AFC Bournemouth fan, this old-school pub is a great shout to visit for a pre-match pint. Note that despite the name, it solely operates as a pub and doesn’t offer any overnight accommodation.

From the numerous times I’ve visited this pub, it’s usually full of home supporters creating a great atmosphere, however, there do also tend to be some away supporters here for some pre-match friendly banter.

I found the choice of drinks to be great and pretty reasonably priced. The food wasn’t too bad – but definitely not something to write home about!

The Bell

The Bell is another option for home & away supporters if you’re travelling to the game via Pokesdown Train Station due to being located right outside the station. It is around a 20 minute walk to the stadium at Dean Court, but there is a bus which runs frequently which I’ve used a couple times. There’s also a large outdoor area, if you prefer to drink in the sun (who doesn’t!).

It’s your classic traditional supporters pub. Several screens showing live sport, a wide range of beer and real ales, and I thought the pub-grub was pretty good (and I’m a tough critic!). While they do let in away supporters, I’d recommend not wearing team colours and being as respectful as possible.

It also has a large car park for those travelling to the game by car, however, I’ve found that it does fill up pretty quickly on match days so be sure to get down early. If you don’t manage to get a parking space here, be sure to check out our Vitality Stadium Parking guide for other parking spots.

The Mary Shelley

I’m sure your all familiar with what a Wetherspoon Pub entails. Cheap drinks, budget-comfort food & fast service. You get what you pay here.

It’s located a bit further away in the Bournemouth City Centre, which is ideal if you’re travelling to the ground from that direction. You can either catch a bus to the stadium (find more information on that here), or you can park closer to the ground.

Overall, I found there to be a great atmosphere in here on match day, and it was filled with both home and away supporters who were, seemingly, getting along well.

Sixty Million Postcards

If you’re not just after a cheap pre-match drink, Sixty Million Postcards is the place for you. Rated as one of the best sports bars in Bournemouth, I found the food here to be incredible. They specialise in burgers and wings and I personally don’t think there is a better choice of food to accompany a pre-match pint with!

They are, once again, located in the town centre, so I’d recommend catching the bus or driving to the ground after visiting here. They also have an outdoor seating area which is great for the warmer weather.

Overall, Sixty Million Postcards is definitely a more relaxed venue with a quieter atmosphere. But, if you’re after a bite-to-eat, this is the place to be. You can also head to another pub afterwards to soak in some pre-match atmosphere!
