So, let's take a deeper look at the London Premier League Teams!

7. Chelsea FC

Chelsea, established in 1905, have emerged as one of the most dominant clubs in English football in recent times, having secured the Champions League trophy twice in the last decade.

With a squad full of star-studded players and an American consortium backing them, Chelsea are determined to achieve European success again and go compete for the Premier League title.

Over the past 10-15 years, Chelsea have been one of my favourite teams to watch. From Drogba’s header vs Bayern Munich to the iconic Jose Mourinho’s success at the club, there’s always excitement around The Blues.

6. West Ham United

Founded in 1895, West Ham United has a loyal fanbase and a proud history, having won the FA Cup three times. The club has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, finishing in the top six of the Premier League in recent years. They are truly one of the biggest East London football clubs.

Nicknamed “The Hammers”, they made the move from the iconic Upton Park in 2016 to the modern London Stadium. The new stadium has been questioned on it’s atmosphere, I personally preferred the classic Upton Park!

5. Tottenham Hotspur

Established in 1882, Tottenham Hotspur is one of the most historic and recognisable football clubs in England, boasting a proud legacy that includes two league titles and two European trophies.

Tottenham are eager to compete for all trophies in Europe and England, however, they’ve fallen on tough times recently with the sacking of Antonio Conte.

The club talisman is Harry Kane, he’s en-route to becoming the leading goalscorer in the English Premier League – pretty incredible right?

4. Brentford FC

Brentford, established in 1889, are one of the most recent additions to the Premier League, having achieved promotion for the first time in 2021.

With a devoted fanbase and a reputation for playing a stylish, attacking brand of football, Brentford are poised to make its mark in the top flight of English football.

As a life-long Premier League fan, I’ve found Brentford FC to be extremely entertaining (apart from when they beat my team Man Utd 4-0!). They make a great addition to the league, and are looking to challenge other London football clubs.

3. Fulham FC

With a founding date of 1879, Fulham are one of the oldest football clubs in London, steeped in a rich history that includes a 1975 FA Cup triumph and a 2010 Europa League final appearance.

After being relegated from the Premier League in the past, Fulham were promoted again and have impressed everyone in the 22/23 season.

I’m sure the initial thought of every Fulham supporter is to see their team avoid Premier League relegation. However, they’ve taken on the “big boys” numerous times and put in a number of impressive performances which is likely to land them in a European spot. They are one of my favourite teams to watch (plus Craven Cottage is always bouncing!).

2. Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace boast a storied past and has been a mainstay in the English football league system for over a century.

The club has experienced numerous periods of triumph throughout its history, with a notable highlight being its appearance in the FA Cup final in 2016.

The club play at Selhurst Park, which is located in South London. From my personal experience, the atmosphere at Selhurst Park is always electric. There’s a real buzz around the club with their free-flowing attacking football.

1. Arsenal FC

Founded in 1886, Arsenal is one of the most successful clubs in English football history, having won 13 league titles and 14 FA Cups. With Arteta at the wheel, and several promising young players such as Saka improving year on year, Arsenal will be looking to challenge for major honours in every league season.

They are one of the giants in London, and are continuously in contention with Tottenham Hotspur to decide who is the best team in North London! I personally love watching Arsenal play, Arteta has re-invented their football philosophy creating a free-flowing attacking side!

Any others?

Some fans can get confused on the boundaries of London itself. I’ve seen questions around whether newly promoted teams such as Luton are classed as a London team.

But the answer is… no. Until May 2024, there are only 7 Premier League Teams.

Of course, relegations to any of the current seven or promotions for Championship teams such as Millwall or Watford could change the number of teams for the 2024/25 season – but that’s some way away for now!
