So, what are the 5 Best English Football Away Days?

Millwall F.C. - The Den

If you’re a football fan searching for an authentic experience, you ought to visit The Den, which is Millwall FC’s home ground. The stadium has an intense atmosphere and is well-known for the club’s enthusiastic supporters.

What’s more, The Den is located in one of London’s liveliest neighbourhoods. From personal experience, I’d advise you not to wear your teams colours! Millwall fans are renown for being intimidating to the away opposition.

Currently in the Championship, every game means something to Millwall and their fans making for an electric atmosphere. I visited Millwall around 3 years ago and, while the standard of football isn’t close to the Premier League, the atmosphere more than made up for it.

Newcastle United - St James Park'

St James’ Park, the iconic home of Newcastle United, is a bucket-list destination for any football fan. The stadium’s impressive size and passionate fans make for an unforgettable atmosphere on matchday. Additionally, Newcastle is a welcoming city with plenty of history and culture to explore before or after the game, making it a perfect destination for a weekend away.

I visited St James’ Park a year ago for their match against Sheffield United and the atmosphere was certainly one of the best I’ve seen in the Premier League. As far as football fans go, Newcastle’s fanbase were extremely helpful and friendly. If you don’t mind being seated in the sky, there’s not many English football away days that can beat a trip up North!

Spurs - Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

The new Tottenham Hotspur stadium is an impressive example of modern architecture and technology. It includes fantastic features, such as the world’s first stadium brewery, that make it an exceptional destination for football enthusiasts.

Thanks to the devoted fans who have adopted the venue as their new home, the stadium’s atmosphere is intense and vibrant. Any football fan seeking a contemporary and immersive match day experience should visit Tottenham’s new stadium, whether you attend the home or away end.

A lifelong Tottenham Fan I spoke to said:”I’ve been to a lot of stadiums in my time, but there’s something truly special about Tottenham’s new ground. It’s a football fan’s dream come true.”.

Birmingham City F.C. - St. Andrew's

If you’re looking for a trip to the English Championship, there’s not many better places to visit than St. Andrew’s to see Birmingham City play. This football club is brimming with enthusiastic fans, who always create an electric atmosphere.

The Midlands teams rivals are Aston Villa, and I luckily managed to attend this game. The hostile, intimidating atmosphere between the two sides was something I’ll never forget. If you do attend a match with a fierce rivalry, be sure not to wear team colours until inside the stadium.

If you’re looking for English Football Away Days to attend with your mates, Southampton may be the one. With over 138 bars located within 2 miles of the stadium, this football away day is perfect for those who live a pint or two (or ten!).

However, Southampton isn’t all about the booze! Any premier league game is worth watching and Southampton certainly aren’t an exception to this! If you’re travelling on a budget, I’d personally recommend a trip to St Mary’s as I’ve found it’s the most affordable Premier League away day.
