So, what are the best Stadium of Light Parking Options?
JustPark
If you’ve managed to catch any of our other football parking blogs, you’ll have probably seen us recommend JustPark for most football away days. And it’s no different when visiting the Sunderland Stadium.
For those of you not familiar with JustPark, it’s an online booking platform where you can reserve a parking space before your journey. I’ve found prices to be between £5-10 in this area, which isn’t too bad for convenient matchday parking! Definitely an option to consider if you don’t fancy Sunderland Afc matchday parking stress!
St Peter's Park & Walk
If you don’t mind stretching your legs before kick-off, Sunderland’s park and walk scheme is definitely something to check out.
Located around a 10-minute walk from the ground, parking here is free making it potentially the best place to park for Stadium of Light. There’s some great pubs en-route to the ground, be sure to check them out here. I’ve personally parked here a few times and never had any troubles – although it does fill up quickly. So I’d advise heading down early!
St Peter’s, SR6 0DD
YourParkingSpace
Similar to JustPark, YourParkingSpace is an online booking platform. If you’re an organised person (unlike myself), pre-booking may be the best option for you.
I’ve used YourParkingSpace all over the country and never had any trouble – the platform is pretty simple to use and not too highly-priced. If you’re looking to avoid car parking stress on matchday, I’d recommend checking out this platform.
Chester Road Park & Walk
Similar to St Peter’s, Chester Road is part of the scheme ran by the club. Once again, it’s a free car parking option so great if you’re doing away days on a budget.
It’s located slightly further away from the ground compared to St Peter’s at around a 20-25 minute walk. If you don’t mind a pre-match walk, definitely check this place out – it’s up there with the best parking near Stadium of Light options!
Chester Road, SR1 3SD
Sunniside Car Park
Sunnside Car Park is located around a 20 minute walk from the stadium and is one of the most popular choices for fans travelling to the game. With over 650 spaces and a £5 rate for daily parking, it’s no surprise this is a popular choice.
I’ve parked here a few times and I’d definitely recommend it, there’s also a Nandos near by if you fancy a pre-match bite to eat!
High Street West Car Park, Sunniside, Sunderland SR1 1UF
The Bridges Car Park
The Bridges Multi-Storey car park is home to over 900 spaces and is recommended by the club. Prices aren’t too bad either at £1.50 per hour – so you’ll be looking to pay around £4.50 for your matchday parking.
Similar to other car parks, it’s around a 20-minute walk from the stadium so be prepared for a little walk to the ground.
Overall, it’s a great option and one I’ve used multiple times myself.
The Bridges Shopping Centre, SR1 3DR
St Mary's Car Park
If you’re looking for a car park with good security, this is the place to be. With over 400 parking spaces and a 100% crime-free record, you’ll be looking to pay around £4.50 for your matchday parking.
However, if it’s a midweek game you are attending, parking is free after 3 p.m. until midnight. It’s located just across the river making it a 15 minute walk to the ground. Definitely consider this as an option for Stadium of Light Parking!
St Mary’s Car Park, SR1 3AH
